Above: DD13 on O'Connell Street on 8 June 2003 after working in on route 103 from Ashbourne.

In 2001 Bus ╔ireann got a Volvo B7TL with East Lancs Vyking bodywork as a demonstrator. Two more have been leased and the demonstrator returned to Volvo. These are used on commuter routes out of Dublin mainly the 103 to Ashbourne and Ratoath. these have now been sold on to private operators.

Recently 6 more Volvo B7TL double-deckers with East Lancs Vyking Mylennium bodywork were bought for route 103 to provide a 20 min service on the route. These have been delivered and are in service. These are numbered DD11-16. These are the first double-deckers Bus ╔ireann has bought in over 19 years excluding leases and demonstrators. 14 more were ordered and delievered in late 2003 numbered DD17-30 but did not enter service till January 2004. Some of these will be used on the revamped 100/101 service to Drogheda and Dundalk and will be the first double-deckers operated in Drogheda by CI╔ albeit in the form of Bus ╔ireann in over 30 years. 3 more have just been delievered as of April 2004 numbered DD31-33 they are for the Black Ash Park&Ride service in Cork City and are the first double deckers used by Bus ╔ireann in Cork since the withdrawl of the KD class Bombardiers in late 1990s excluding Van Hool Atlantean DF795 which is used solely on the City Tour in Cork.
